Guarantee Trust Bank and Ria Money Transfer have
teamed up with Zeepay, a local financial technology company to launch a mobile
money transfer service to improve cash transfer.
The partnership dubbed “Ria2mobile” to enable Ria
customers worldwide send money directly into beneficiaries’ mobile money
wallets across Ghana was launched at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra on
Speaking at the launch, GT Bank’s General Manager and Divisional Head for General Internal Services, Iris Ritcher-Addo was optimistic the partnership will change the face of cash transfers.
“GT Bank is
delighted to partner Ria and Zeepay to champion this service in line with our
bold digital banking agenda to make world-class banking services available to
every Ghanaian and to boost Ghana’s financial inclusion agenda and supports the
collective drive to promote a cash-lite economy,” she said.
Director of Operations for Africa at Ria, Robert Kotei added “This partnership offers Ria the opportunity to bring another quick and convenient way for our customers to receive funds in line with our commitment to providing a superior Omni channel experience to our cherished beneficiaries in Ghana”.
Meanwhile, the Board Chairman for Zeepay, Mr Paa
Kwesi Yankie expressed their appreciation and lenduring efforts to make the
partnership a success.
“We are happy to partner GTBank and Ria to provide mobile money as an option to our remittance customers, as a way of improving last-mile access in Ghana. The service will contribute to expanding the financial inclusion ecosystem,” he said.
The ceremony was graced by the Director of the financial sector at the Ministry of Finance, Sampson Akligoh who pledged government’s commitment in making the partnership a success and the Director of Diaspora Affairs at the presidency, Mr Akwasi Awua.
