The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has stated if elections were to be held in Ghana today, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would be out of office because NPP has failed Ghanaians.
To General Mosquito as he is popularly known in political circles, he is confident in former President John Mahama’s ability to capture power in 2020 because Ghanaians are yearning for the NDC’s comeback.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi TV Tuesday, General Mosquito reiterated that the NDC has positive chances of coming back in 2020.
“We are confident in him (John Mahama) becoming a President. There are a lot of things that can go wrong along the line when you lose elections, it is not always a strong correlation with your acceptability or popularity and if elections were held now, the NPP would be out of office,” he stated.
Mr Nketia said their victory in election 2020 would not be dependent on the electoral results of election 2016.
“The political atmosphere in the country is one that is clamouring for a comeback of the NDC and the results of the 2016 elections would not have any direct impact in the upcoming elections in 2020,” he argued.
