Jane Ayieyam eager to make Black Queens squad for WAFU Cup of Nations tournament
Police Ladies forward Jane Ayieyam wants to make the Black Queens team for this year’s WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations in Cote d’ Ivoire.
The 21-year-old got off to a perfect start in the NC special Women’s competition when she scored in her side’s victory over Immigration Ladies over the weekend.
Ayieyam could do little to help Ghana progress to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France after the team failed to excel at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations hosted on home soil.
The former Black Maidens and Black Princesses attacker is keen on making the team once again for the second edition of the WAFU Cup of Nations which comes off in May this year.
“Yes because getting into the national team has always been due to hard work and what you just saw here has proved that yes I deserve a national team call up,” the 2012 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup bronze winner told nbsportslive.com.
“I’m really working towards it (national team call-up) because you just can’t sit idle and expect to be called to the national team.
“You always have to show what you have when you get to the national team camp. Because you are definitely going to meet equally good players there. So am using this tournament to make sure I get into the national team for the WAFU tournament.”
She was part of Ghana’s winning team at the last edition of the WAFU Cup of Nations two years ago.
