The Light Foundation, an Accra-based Islamic non-
governmental foundation has supported some Muslim rural communities with food
items to enable them go through the Ramadan period successfully.

The foundation this year supported four rural-based
communities under its Ramadan food package project in the Northern region of
Ghana.

The beneficiary communities included Balshei, Janna,
Nangbagu Yepala and Nangbagu Yekura all based in the Tamale Metropolis and
Sagnerigu Municipality.

The Ramadan Food Package to hundreds of poor Muslims
across the four communities included bags of rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour,
salt and other assorted items.

The beneficiaries also received copies of the Holy
Quran to enable them gain deeper understanding of Islam.

The CEO of the Light Foundation, Sheikh Ali Napari speaking to the media, thanked the benevolent Muslim Community in the UK who sponsored this year’s Ramadan Food Package.

He added that the sponsors were driven by the
Islamic teachings of benevolence and sharing with the less-privileged in
society as was done by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

The C.E.O of the Light Foundation presenting the
items to the beneficiaries stated that about GHC20,000 has been spent on this
year’s package.

He underscored the need for Muslims to cultivate the
habit of sharing, no matter how little they have with their neighbours, this is
the way of the Holy Prophet and Islam.

Sheikh Ali, also thanked the communities for
receiving them warmly in the spirit of Islam.

The beneficiaries across the four communities
expressed their gratitude to The Light Foundation for the food items and the
Qurans given them.

They stated that this will go a long way to help
them observe their fasting properly and Worship Almighty Allah with a peaceful
mind.

They also prayed for the sponsors of the package and The Light Foundation for giving back to them in the Holy month of Ramadan.
