Man Kills Son, Buries Body In Forest

A
35-YEAR-OLD man is assisting the Doryumu District Police Headquarters to
ascertain why he secretly buried his 3-year-old boy in a forest at Dodowa in
the Shai-Osudoku District of Accra.

The
suspect, Joshua Osabutey, a lotto writer who reportedly committed the offence
last Monday is currently in police custody.

He
has been slapped with a provisional charge of hindering of inquest-burying a
person without postmortem on the body.

Information
gathered by the DAILY GUIDE indicates that the suspect took the child from the
mother to stay with him but did not return the child only to discover yesterday
that the child has been killed and buried.

Confirming
the incident, Superintendent Reuben Dugah, Crime Officer of the Dodowa
Divisional Police Headquarters explained to DAILY GUIDE via telephone
that the suspect was seen by an informant burying something like human being in
an unauthorised place.

Police,
he explained that moved in and arrested the suspect who confirmed burying his
son who died at a hospital after a short illness.

However,
the hospital, according to the Crime Officer has denied that the boy died at
the facility, explaining that the boy was brought dead.

Superintendent
Dugah mentioned that police is taking steps to secure a court order for the
body to be exhumed in order to ascertain what actually caused the death of the
boy.

He
nevertheless, mentioned that the suspect would be arraigned before court whiles
investigation into the matter continued.

Meanwhile,
Rose Narkitey, mother of the deceased who happens to be ex-wife of the suspect
told DAILY
GUIDE
that “The suspect somewhere this year forcibly came for the boy
under the pretext of being sent to a boarding school.”

According to her, the suspect had since then refused her every opportunity to see her son until news got her that the boy had reportedly been killed by the father.
