The Electoral Commission (EC) has decided to use the colour yellow to depict a YES vote and colour brown to depict a NO vote on the ballot paper in the upcoming December 17, 2019 referendum for the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

This was made known in a public notice the EC issued pursuant to Clause 4 of the Article 290 of the 1992 Constitution and Regulation 13 od Constitutional Instrument 120 (C.I. 120)

The notice, signed and issued by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa on Monday October 21, 2019 stated, “the Electoral Commission wishes to announce for the information of the general public that 1. It has scheduled Tuesday, 17th December, 2019 for the conduct of Referendum to approve the Bill to amend Clause 3 of Article 55 of the 1992 Constitution, to enable Political Parties sponsor Candidates for election to District Assemblies or Local Government Units.”
